FLY ME TO THE MOON
Exhibition of unique artworks by artist, musician and synaesthete TRACEY ROBERTS - these works form part of THE LUNAR CODEX, a project to deliver examples of human art and culture to the surface of the MOON!

Start
10 July 2026
End
2 August 2026
Tracey Roberts is a Melbourne-based visual artist, musician, illustrator and graphic designer whose work explores the relationship between sound, colour, memory and emotion.
FLY ME TO THE MOON is a solo exhibition presented from 10 July to 2 August 2026 at MAGNET Galleries, Docklands. This exhibition brings together twelve synesthetic artworks in which music is translated into colour, movement and form. Through her rare neurological experience of music-colour synesthesia, Roberts creates richly layered visual compositions that offer audiences a glimpse into the way sound can be perceived beyond hearing.
Much like the moon itself — distant, solitary, and yet radiant — these works reflect how isolation can become luminous. Even in our darkest moments, what we create can travel far beyond us and our circumstances.
The works hold an extraordinary global significance. Originally featured in the June 2021 edition of the US-based O Muse! Art, Literature & Music magazine, the collection forms part of the Lunar Codex — an international cultural archive led by Canadian physicist and author Dr Samuel Peralta, which sends contemporary creative works to the lunar surface as a record of human creativity during a time of global crisis.
For this exhibition, the works are reimagined as unique 1-of-1 lunar editions, printed by Photonet Fine Art Printing (at MAGNET) on internationally sourced handmade archival papers. Each artwork contains a hidden moon element, marking its connection to the lunar journey and transforming the collection into something rare, unique and collectable.
